Ever dreamt of disrupting one of the biggest and fastest growing industries? As part of the Wunder Team, you will! Wunder Mobility is one of the fastest growing mobility technology companies in Europe, with 170 employees of over 50 nationalities. Our HQ is in Hamburg with further presence in Dortmund, Germany and Los Angeles, California.

We are the only global company that conceptualizes and scales all variations of new mobility services as part of its technology solutions. Our products connect end-to-end services to create an ecosystem of sustainable mobility.

Join Wunder and together let’s build our team and culture to fulfill our vision of being the best mobility tech company in the world.

Wunder Shuttle is a white label ride-hailing platform - think Uber or Lyft, but for small and medium businesses and communities who want to compete with those big players in local and niche markets. When working on Shuttle, you will be solving real world transportation problems with technology:

More specifically, you will be designing and building scalable and modular backend services. These services provide backend APIs to our own native and web apps as well as customer applications.

Amongst the most interesting problems we are currently solving for our customers are a variety of geospatial optimization problems dealing with passenger/driver matching, dispatching and ride-pooling.

  • Collaborate in discovering our evolving business domain and the corresponding software architecture.
  • Design and implement services that seamlessly integrate with our multi-service architecture.
  • Implement and maintain user friendly GraphQL/REST APIs for internal and external users.
  • Create fault-tolerant and resilient services: given the nature of mobility, clients operate on areas where networks are unreliable. Our services must be capable of recovering from unexpected failures and keep up with non-stop real world updates.
  • Implement real-time communication channels between services and clients: deal with eventual consistency, state synchronization and challenges derived from event based systems.
  • Collaborate with your peers from other teams to form a Community of Practice.
  • Have fun experimenting, solving problems through prototypes and evolving them into actual products and features.

Main requirements

  • A proficient programmer in Node.js and TypeScript, or other modern programming environments.
  • A software engineer with working experience, ideally building large-scale backend systems.
  • An excellent and empathetic listener, able to work productively with different sides of the business, and articulate/discuss technical decisions.
  • Someone who takes ownership over product features until they are deployed and working properly in production.
  • Someone who is able to deliberately consider advantages/trade-off of cutting-edge versus boring technologies.

Nice to have

  • Deep understanding of software architecture
  • Interest and activity in the tech community (meetups, talks, OSS contributions)
  • Previous experience and/or understanding of companies comparable to us in size, growth and quality.
  • B.S/M.S in Computer Science or equivalent

...being part of a team that celebrates diversity, supports inclusiveness and encourages individual expression. You will find yourself surrounded by talented people who are passionate about what they do and who feel empowered and trusted to take ownership in their roles. We are growing quickly in a challenging industry, which means we act smart and work at a high speed.

We are able to do this because of the agile, adaptive, and supportive environment we work in, with an aim to grow with people who share these values and are better than ourselves. As part of Wunder, every day is a new chance for you to make an impact and help us be better than we were yesterday
